INDORE:After a protest by the hostellers of Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya’s (DAVV) University Teaching Department (UTD) over water woes and other issues, vice chancellor has set up a committee to probe the allegations and ordered the report in three days on Thursday.
Despite a hike of Rs 200 on the mess fees, due to the contaminated water, students are fall ill. According to the hostellers, around 16 girls have already fallen ill and despite multiple complaints no action is taken.
Hostellers have also been requesting for installation of street lights around the hostel and water geysers as it has been cold.
The hostellers who had staged a protest at the chief warden’s office ended up in a scuffle with chief warden of girls hostel, Dr Namrata Sharma who was demanded not to leave the venue as the protest hadn’t been over.

gate of the chief warden and it was later opened by the warden of the boys hostel.
Vice chancellor, Dr Renu Jain was also gheroed by the hostellers as they demanded the changes to be made.
“Despite hike of Rs 200 in mess the students are buying bottles for drinking water. Despite multiple complaints no action had been taken by the authorities. Warden Namrata Sharma misbehaved with us as we tried to stop her from the venue,” student leader and hosteller, Kamaksha Gaud said.
On the other hand, chief warden, Dr GL Prajapati told TOI that the file for the water coolers had been put up two months back it had been in process at the varsity administration.
“I have sought a report in three days and the issues will be resolved,” vice chancellor of DAVV Dr Renu Jain told TOI. TNN
